Teddy bears are no longer needed in our house. She assured me that she could not lift his leg off her arm to start school.

Today is Good

Let me honest things are not always perfect at our house. Actually the last couple of weeks have been pretty hard but then when I think I can not do anything right. This happens. Jacob loves to pray and I did not catch a picture of him praying but I caught a picture of him snuggling his big brother while we prayed.

Today I am grateful for the good days.

Friends and Challanges

A friend of mine is tutoring Faith in algebra. Her girls come over to play while she is here. So today I gave them challanges. They thought it was the best thing ever.
Although honestly I felt bad because Jacob kept tickling her to make her move.

How do you entertain kids when they are visiting?

They are Alike

These two are probably most alike. Sometimes that fact scares me. They think alike and speak alike.
Looking at this picture shows me how tall she has gotten. Maybe I will stop taking pictures.

Teeth

Recently my daughter started complaining of a tooth ache.  I took her in and the dentist said her teeth look great but she has 12 teeth coming in and at least 10 are loose. So between all that happening and sinus pressure she is in pain.
I feel bad for her. Of course after leaving the dentist she is feeling better.
Now to figure out how to pay to have the next two kids braces put on. Man oh man,  I could buy a new vehicle with the money we spend on dental work. This picture shows you what Jacob thinks of the dentist office.

In case you missed it this week Jacob is still sleeping in his chair. I wish he slept in a bed as long as he does in his chair.

Soaps

We have been making soap at our house. Lots of soap. We are using our milk from the goats in our own yard. This is pumpkin spice soap. I love the way it looks and smells. I used clove oil and on guard oils in it along with pumpkin purée. .

Mango and fruity are some of my favorite. I cannot wait to try them out.

I am currently selling my soaps at a local craft store but soon I will start selling them at the farmers market. I am so excited for the farmers market to open back up.
Currently we have several flavors available: mango, fruity, coffee, mocha, watermelon, black raspberry vanilla, almond butter, cutie cupcake, cinnamon pumpkin. Within the next two weeks I will have more coffee, more cupcake, tropical punch, espresso, lavender, chocolate peppermint bark, and citrus available. All bars are between 3-4 ounces and cost $5. If you are interested in goats milk soap feel free to e-mail me at prmpetrie@ yahoo.com

Our Lap Dogs

This poor dog forgets that he does not weigh ten pounds. I know some people think it is wrong to let dogs on furniture. I personally do not have a problem with it. Especially since they will not be visiting other houses.
You have to feel bad for Howie because he does not realize his size. He has tried numerous times to sleep in this chair but it is not happening. Tonight he just wanted some love. I understand the kids are in bed and everything is quiet.
When my amazing husband would not give him attention on one side he just moved to the other side.
Have I said how much I love our dogs? I cannot believe we have had them six months.

Bad Chicken

Bad chicken. This cracked me up. The kids caught this chicken outside of the chicken yard. As soon as they opened the coop door she put herself in time out.
Now how do I get my big kids to do this. And how can I ever be mad when she gives me such beautiful eggs.

Taco Caserole

I love a new recipe. I asked my son to pull out meat for two meals. He pulled out two packs of turkey burger. I was not in the mood for spaghetti.
So of course I opened Pinterest. I don't know why I never thought to make this before. It is a taco casserole.
Ingredients and Directions:
Half a bag of Fritos in the bottom of the pan
1.5 pounds of ground meat
2 cans of cheddar cheese soup mixed with 1/2 cup of milk warmed
Mozerella to taste
Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted
Everyone enjoyed it

Friends

Some days I worry if staying in the Army so long was the right choice. How will it affect my kids? Will they make friends at the new place?
This is the picture of three girls in church. To me this is what church is all about. Worshipping together, being available for a hug. I love that Grace was rubbing her friends hair while they sang. I love that my children are learning it is okay to pray together and sing together.

Face Time

This little boy is rotten. Pure rotten. He only puts his finger in his nose when he is face timing my mom. No idea why he does this but he does.

Playing Outside

This week was a wonderful week. The weather was above freezing. We were able to get outside.
This week Jacob was able to be a boy playing outside. Last summer he was too small to be outside and this winner I tried to stay inside as much as I could.

So this evening he got to run around and jump in puddles and learn how to milk the goat. Sadly he was a bit too friendly with the goats face and

right after this picture was taken she head butted him knocking him to the ground. He is fine and was right back to playing with the goats.

I am now really looking forward to getting outside and getting our garden going. I am excited to see the kids outside playing and running. Maybe with a little less mud.

Extra Homeschooling Help

I do not know how I have homeschooled so long without this page. This is not a sponsored post. This is just me telling you about a wonderful help.
The program is called IXL.com. It is a only site for children of all ages to work on school. It is not replacing my curiculm but it is a huge help.
My daughter has struggled with algebra 1  and this has given her extra help. It is great because my little ones think it is just a game.

Baby Goats

It happened, it happened. We successfully have baby goats. I was so worried about her having babies. Worried the babies wouldn't do well or it would be too cold. But they are perfect. Mom and babies are doing great. Now to convince myself to stay out of the barn.

A New Appliance

Our washer broke. As in shake the house, scare ten years off my life broke. Did I tell you about that. Well it did.
So we went washer shopping. We thought about buying a pay as you go washer for the ones who wash the same clothes over and over.

I love the new washer. It is so much bigger. I did not want a bunch of extra features but it has them. We did not but the matching dryer. That was hard and I know my amazing husband would have if I asked. I just could not bring myself to buy a new dryer for looks.
It will bug me every time I look at this mismatched set. But every time I look at it I will ask myself what am I doing with the blessings God is giving me. Do I want to live my life in debt?  Today I will be grateful that we had the money for a new applicance when we needed it. The funny part of this is how Grace can not reach into the washer without a chair. She assured me it was her washer. She now allows me to unload it.

Fear in the Night

Have you ever felt fear. Keep you awake for hours longer fear. One night I went to bed and had just fallen asleep which is not normal for me. Then I heard the noise. The noise I will never forget. I swear I thought a train was running through my house or a twister was in my backyard. I have never heard such a noise. I jumped up and started grabbing the kids and telling them to run downstairs. Just as I was running back to my room to grab the baby the noise stopped.
Appearantly, the washer was off balance and was shaking the house. Shaking so hard that it put a hole in the wall.
Everyone went back to sleep and I laid in bed and tried to get my heartbeat to slow down.

No Guilt Zone

This is a silky picture but I wanted to explain. Today I turned on Where the Red Fern Grows. I am tired and we are done with school. The baby is just now laying down. Our friends who were visiting this morning have gone. So for the first time in a year I turned on a movie and told the boys they had to rest. They could choose to watch the movie or take a nap.
I say all this to tell every mom who is reading this that it is okay to have a quiet time in your day.
I learned a long time ago by several wise women that a wife should take time in the afternoon to rest. To encourage the kids to rest. That way when your hero (your spouse) comes home you are not exhausted. I do not rest often but I also do not feel guilty when I need to rest.
How do you keep going? How do you make it through the day when the baby is not sleeping or your insomnia is in high gear.

The Noise that Woke our House

I had some thoughts. We have not gone over our fire plan. I was running around in my underwear. Glad I did not have to run outside. Why did I leave the baby in the bed when I got out of the bed. Why did my son who sleeps downstairs next to the bathroom not wake up. So glad my husband was home. This is one more thing that needs fixed.

Bad Mommy Moment

This is my bad mommy moment of the week. Jacob went upstairs to play with Grace. I heard him crying but that is not uncommon. He likes to get into her make up and she does not allow it. A couple of minutes later big sister brought him downstairs. He had gone into a room and shut the door.
This poor baby had locked himself in a room. Luckily it did not last long.
No worries minutes later and he was back to himself.
