Michael got his Tender foot in Scouts

The troop had a bridging ceremony for the boys the Weeblos who are coming up. Michael did receive his Tenderfoot. He has already done allot of requirements for second class. One of the requirements is to have one service hour. So today he went to a friend’s house and helped take down her trampoline and empty the water out of the basketball hoop and mowed her backyard. I told her thank you for letting him learn to mow on her yard. She is moving soon and needed these things done before the movers come this week. Her husband is in Korea. Tomorrow he is going to mow another friend’s yard whose husband is in Korea. Michael did have a little mishap this afternoon. Rob was trying to show a friend how to shoot a air soft gun. He even told her wear to aim. Unfortunitly for Michael she missed his foot and hit his arm. He was a good sport about it after he chased her down the street with his own gun.

Saturday mornings

I worked really hard at getting the house in good shape yesturday. Faith was allowed to spend the night at a friends. Rob and Michael woke up early and went fishing. So it is only Hope and Grace home with me. I am letting the girls paint this morning. I know that does not sound like a big deal to most people and lots of my friends think I am crafty but the reality is I do not get crafty with the kids very often. I am enjoying our quiet morning.

This is the first year I have been able to help. I am teaching Hope's class. I am not very good at it but I love the kids. Grace is a honoree pathfinder. She gets very upset if she does not have her shirt. Today the Explorers throw a party for the troop. The girls had games and animals and food. Yes that is me feeding someone else's son a sugar stick. Faith has the best teachers in the world. They have been so generous with there time and talent over the last 4 years. Our troop number is 3110, can anyone guess why it is 3110. It is because we use Proverbs 31:10. A capable, intelligent, and virtuous woman-who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far above rubies or pearls.

Promotion Day

STAFF SERGEANT ROBERT D. PETRIE

Staff Sergeant Robert D. Petrie was born in 1971 in Huntington West Virginia. He also attended Marshall University for two years. He entered the U.S. Army on the 23rd of July 1993 and conducted basic training at Fort Sill Oklahoma, and Advance Individual training at Redstone Arsenal Alabama. He served three years in the Army reserves before going on to active duty 1 March 1996.
During his career, Staff Sergeant Petrie has deployed to Iraq twice in support of Operation Iraqi freedom. He has also deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as well as Albania/ Kosovo, and two tours in Bosnia. His assignments include Fort Campbell Kentucky; Illishiem Germany; Fort Riley Kansas; Kuwait; and Redstone Arsenal Alabama. He has served in various positions which include Squad leader, Ammunition Section Sergeant, Ammunition Section Chief, III/V Platoon Sergeant, and Military Transition Team Sergeant and is presently serving as a Senior Instructor/ Writer.
Staff Sergeant Petrie’s military education includes army basic training Fort Sill Oklahoma; Advance Individual Training for Ammunition Specialist Redstone Arsenal Alabama; Advance Military Transition Team Camp Taji Iraq; Military Transition Team Fort Riley Kansas; Basic Non Commissioned Officer Course, Total Army instructor Training, System Approach to training Redstone Arsenal Alabama; Air Assault School, Fort Campbell Kentucky.
Staff Sergeant Petrie’s Awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, The Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), The Army Achievement Medal (6OLC), The Good Conduct Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War of Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon(Numeral 2) Army Service Ribbon, Over Seas Service Ribbon (Numeral 3), Kosovo NATO Ribbon, NATO Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, Drivers Badge.
Staff Sergeant Petrie is currently residing in Huntsville, AL with his Wife Pamela, and four children Michael, Faith, Hope, and Grace. He is currently assigned as a Senior Instructor for the Munitions Training Department under the 59th Ordnance Brigade

On a side note, I have to tell you the ceremony was short and sweet with only one glitch I forgot to kiss my husband. So the Sargeant Major Stopped my husband in the middle of his speach and I had to walk back up and kiss him. There was a comment about how long the kiss was. I say if your going to do it, do it right. Honestly it was not that long.
