Miscellany Monday

1. This week my friend visited from Missouri, it was amazing and I cannot believe that she was here and now gone. I woke into the room where she slept last night and wondered if it was a dream. It was so wonderful to have her visiting us.
2. Last week I made almost 200 cupcakes. We made 40 cupcakes for the father/daughter dance. My husband left the leftovers in the back of the van which turned out great because the next day we were driving to church and I realized I forgot the 50 cupcakes I decorated for church. It worked out but I was sad that we did not have the pretty Valentine’s Day cupcakes for church.
3. Today is Valentine’s Day and my hero and I have decided not to buy each other gifts but to take the time to go to the movies tonight. We never go to the movies together.
4. My husband played Farmville on his cell phone in church yesterday before church started and I about lost it. Tell me not to kill my husband today.

Valentines Day

It is Valentine’s Day. I cannot believe it but my hero will be home with me. It feels weird to have him home with me. This year we decided to not get gifts for one another. Which seems so weird to me but this year we are just focusing on each other? We are going to go to the movies this evening. I know it sounds silly but I am really looking forward to it. I feel like a teenager going to the movies with my husband. And not only that we will be out past bedtime. How weird is that?
If your spouse is home take the time to appreciate it and remind yourself that having him home is a luxury. If you know someone whose husband is not home then give them a call, take them to lunch. Remind them how much you appreciate their friendship.
Now if you are reading this and are thinking but we do not have money to do anything special and I am sad about it let me give you some suggestions. If you have kids here can be your plans. Go grocery shopping this morning (it is payday). Buy his favorite meal, buy your favorite appetizer. Come home and shower and take a small nap. Then this evening move back your bedtime routine 30 minutes. I promise if you do not tell the kids they will not catch on. Change the clocks if you have to. Then set the kitchen table, light some candles turn down the lights and have dinner. If you do not have candles stop by the dollar tree they have some. Then enjoy dinner and leave the plates on the table just as you would at the restraint. I promise you years from now you will remember this. It is not the roses that die or the chocolate that melts. It is the moments together; it is the conversations we forget to talk about.

I do not know this artist but I love that you can read the words. I wish I could set here and tell you that I practice what this song says. But sadly I do not. I say I do, I say I hand it over to you and then I pick it back up before I am off my knees. I am working on it. I am trying to remind myself that the man who tells the thunder where to hit and the flowers where to grow can surely handle my problems. He knew I would have them before I did and so he surely knows how to handle them. Do you struggle with laying down your all for him?

5 Question Friday

1. Would you rather be on ABC's Extreme Home MakeOver or TLC's What not to Wear? This one is too hard, considering the furniture that keeps breaking in our house I would love to say Extreme makeover but since the Army has not said where home is I would say what not to wear. If you have ever seen me in a store I scream what not to wear. I have begged everyone I know to turn me into what not to wear. But please oh please give me a 6 month notice so that I can lose a ton of weight. That would be motivation enough for me.

2. Do you have any tattoos? Heck no, never, no way, no how, not if you tide me down and knocked me out. Okay, maybe if you knocked me out. I do not mind seeing them on other people but not me.

3. Do you tell your kids about things you did growing up? I do. I mean honestly some of the sex stuff I have skipped. But everything else has been an open book. I want them to learn from my experiences.

4. If the traffic signal turns yellow, do you stop or speed up? Do I have to answer? Okay, most of the time I speed up. I know it is wrong but I worry someone will hit me in the back if I do not. Silly I know.

5. What's your preference: chocolate or chips? Oh this is a hard one. How about both? Do you remember when I made chocolate covered Pringles? Okay, now I want to make them again.

This week I waited until the new list of words were put up. I am getting my act together.
This week I am EXCITED because in 29 hours one of my best friends who I have never met in person will at my house.
I am DELIGHTED in the fact that I have started braiding my daughter’s hair so that it does not get as many knots.
I am THANKFUL, that it is tax time, so we can replace the kitchen chairs. We have broken four dining chairs in the last 2 months. No idea how they broke but we are running late.
I am SUPER excited that on Saturday I get to go visit another friend and have time to set and talk.
I am APPRICIATIVE of all of the ladies who are working hard to make the father/daughter dance special for this weekend.
