frugal tip

I would love to start sharing some of my frugal tips with you. When my hero and I went away last weekend we were given a fire starter at the camp ground and instantly thought oh wow we could make them. The logs that we bought last year were $2-4 a piece. We made these for about 40 cents each. Our goal is to use the fireplace as much as possible to cut down on the electric bill

Not Me Monday

Not Me Monday is my day to let you see a different side of me. This week is simple. It was NOT me who told a big fat lie. A few weeks ago I kept a friends kids while she went to Hawaii to be with her husband who was on his way home from a deployment. Now I did not expect payment. She has great kids and I love entertaining.
Let me back track, if you know me you know that every month I am sad that I am not pregnant. So when my friend returned she had gifts for everyone. She told me I had to see mine in private and took me into my room. This is when she presented me with a Fertility statue. I laughed and stuck it in a drawer.
Fast forward a few weeks and my husband came home from his deployment. If you are going to get mad at me for talking bad fast forward through the next paragraph. So that night we finally make it to bed and start to do what married people do? In the middle I said STOP and jump out of bed trying not to laugh and run to the dresser and pull out the statue and put it on top (please know I have no belief in these things just thought it was funny). So fast forward through the rest and the next morning we wake up and my husband looks at the dresser and laughs. Makes a few joked about being mad if her trick worked.
Okay you all know that I ended up with a blood test telling me I was not pregnant. A week later I realized my cycle was 5 days late and again the dream of being pregnant came into my mind. So I snuck to the store (because it drives my hero batty that I waste so much money on test I know will be negative). Of course the test was negative. To make myself feel better I told a little white lie. I know you have been waiting for the lie. I took a pink marker and made that negative test positive and put it in front of my statue. Then I sent that picture to my friend. I did not hear from her for several hours and when she finally called she had not seen the picture. I made her pull over and look at the picture. She called back and was shocked that I was pregnant. Before I could tell her the truth her daughter got in the car and she told her. Now I kind of felt bad that I was lying to a child. I did not know what to do so I told her I would call her back.
I did talk to her within the hour and explain that I was only joking and I was indeed NOT pregnant. She forgave me but I am sure whenever I do get pregnant she will not believe me. I do believe she will never bring me another statue home.

Mamarazzi Monday

Yeah, Yeah, I know this is not my child but my hero. I just could not wait to show you. My hero and I spent last weekend ALONE. It was his dreamed weekend. We fished and slept in a camper and fished and fished and oh yeah we fished. Then he did the zipline.

Friend making Monday

1) What was the most enjoyable part of your weekend? finishing up my quilt with my husband, him asking me to put it on my bed because we made it together. This man has my heart and he knows it
2) List two or three material possessions that you can't live without: this is hard because I get rid of everything. I would say my pictures of our son that was a stillborn, my scrapbooks because I want my children to have pictures of themselves growing up
3) Which day are you looking forward to most in the coming week? maybe Friday because we are going to a new zoo, although I am not looking forward to this week because it is the last week my hero is on vacation. I can not believe he has been home for a month
4) Share one of your most embarrassing stories... this is a bad question, when we lived in Germany I would trim my hair every few months. One day I was at a awards ceremony, I walked up to the stage and recieved my award and went back to my table. A friend said "you cut out your hair". Appearantly one side was about 4 inches longer than the other. I have not cut my own hair since
5) List three of your "must-read" blogs and tell us why we should read them too! oh this is hard, It's twinsanity because she is honest and I can so relate to her military life, raising olives because I love her homeschool tips and because again she makes me feel normal, I also read Mckmama because she is hilarious, she is honest

miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
1. We have had a great week, we went to the beach, but could only stay a hour because we only brought one bottle of sunblock and with my family one bottle only covers us once. They need to make begga bottles of sunblock.

2. We also went to Fort Fisher Aquarium and had a wonderful time. We went on Thursday and it was not very busy. They had several classes going on and so we learned way more than we expected.

3. This week my husband and I (although do not tell him I said he did as much work as I did) made our first quilt. Not only did we make it we have slept under it for 2 nights and he has agreed to make more.

4.We finally got around to hanging the pictures I bought last weekend. I love them and wish I would have bought more. I wish I would have bought the ornaments I saw to hang on our tree.
5. We bought 2 gerbils, they are so cute but my cat is going nuts. She sets on there cage.
