I am so sad today

Today is a sad day. And no, it is not just because Not Me Monday has come to an end. Today is the last day of block leave. I wish there was a way my hero was home and never had to work. Today I wished I played the lotto.
The last month (well at least the last 3 weeks) have been bliss. I will be honest and say the first couple of weeks he was home were well interesting. I felt like we had nothing to talk about and well it was just not fun. I was not looking forward to him being home for a month. Then he signed out on block leave and it was like a switch got switched (boy that makes sense). I woke up excited for each new day. It was nice because we did not really have a bunch planned. I did not even have a huge list of things for him to do. Although now that we are on the last day I have a ton I wish we would have done.
So what did we do on block leave? We did very little school. No worries we started early and we do not take fall break or spring break. We went to the Aquarium, to the beach a couple of times.
My husband taught my children how to chop and stock wood. I think they will spend many more Saturdays’ chopping wood. I had no idea how much wood it would take. We do not need the wood to heat our home but having a fire going relaxes my hero and my kids love it. Honestly my thought is if it helps with the heat bill I am okay with it. We honestly stay in the livingroom and kitchen most of the day because that is where we do school and with the fire going those rooms stay warm. No idea why I told you all of this. Did I tell you my husband learned to make fire starters and made a bunch? You can learn how to make them here.
My wonderful, amazing husband did take the kids camping (well air conditioned with kitchen and bathroom camper)
for a week and at the end I got to spend 2 nights in the camper alone with him. Time to laugh and talk and eat out and fish and fish and fish. Did you hear me say he made me fish? But he did not get me to do the zip line.
Oh yeah another neat thing happened. Daddy taught Hope how to paint and let her paint her horse barn.
It was neat because I have wanted it painted for a long time. Plus afterwards she said mom it took a lot of work to get all the words off of it. So maybe this will encourage her to not write on things anymore.
Okay I will stop now. I do have a question. What do you enjoy doing on vacation? I will not lie, I would have loved to be able to travel the world but this was so nice and SO relaxing.
WAIT, how could I forget? My hero and I also made my first quilt together. He helped me cut all the fabric and then keep it lined up while I sewed it. Have I told you how much I love this man.

American Heritage Girls

We are so excited that we found a AHG group. The leaders and girls seem so nice. Last Friday they had a mother/daughter lock in. It was nice because it gave my girls time to meet the other girls and just play. They did mother/daughter facials. OOPS, there was not time for my girls to do mine.
Although seriously I may invest in some facial scrubs because my girls set there FOREVER. They made prayer journals and wrote down one prayer request and then had a friend right one. They decorated pillow cases and attached little bags to them so they can put there prayer request in there. They also did manicures on one another. Did you know that AHG has been around for 15 years so of course we had to have cake.

Fill in the blank Friday

1. When I get a day to myself I like.... this is a hard question, a year ago I would have said gone out with friends. A few weeks ago my husband took the kids camping for a week and I was home alone and most days were miserable. Honestly the fun of being alone is napping when you want, singing I love to sing loud and I knew noone else could hear. Oh and eat whatever I want without hiding the evidence.

2. High school was.... interesting, not bad or good. My freshman year I was dating a senior and babysitting a ton so that was my life. The was the way the rest of the years went, I babysitt between 20-40 hours a week (sometimes more)

3. A little dream I have is... I know you have heard it before but braces I want braces really bad.

4. A big dream I have... is to be a better wife, a more patient wife, to raise children who grow up saying they had a good childhood

5. If I could drive any car my pick would be.. I use to say a 15 passanger van but my hero reminds me I can hardly park my van.

6. A time that I felt really and truly beautiful was... I can not tell you a time

7. Tomorrow I will.... be going to a class on how to lead people to Christ. It is a way to prepare for Rock the Fort

1. How do you spend your deployment money, do you save, pay off bills or enjoy the extra money while it is there to buy the things you do not normally have? (from Troop Petrie) The first deployment Rob had was only 6 months. I paid our car off 18 months early, the second deployment I paid off a few more things. The third we I do not remember. The fourth we had just bought a house and I bought a deep freezer, riding lawnmower and and other stuff. The last two times it seems like I have paid credit card debt down but now it seems like that is extra money to pay for homeschool stuff and babysitters while he is gone. Our sixth deployment I hired someone to come in twice a month and clean bathrooms and floors and dust.


2. If you could relive one occasion or moment, what would it be? (from Currently On Land) The birth of our second son, we knew before he was born that he had passed. I was so young and in a German hospital. I wish I would have known more, asked more, done more.

3. What’s the worst job you ever had and if it was so bad why did you take it? (from Faith and Deploying)I can not say I have had a bad one, I have had a few babysitting jobs that make my head spin and not because of the kids but because of the parents.

4. If you could play any character on TV, who would you be? (from Many Waters)
Michelle Duggar so I could learn to be more patient.

5. If you could become the world’s expert in something, what would it be? (from Army of Two)
oh man this is hard. I guess in preemie care because that was one of the hardest times of my life and I wished I would have understood more of what was going on with her.

5 Question Friday

1. What is the first nightmare you remember? the movie Jason or nightmare on elm street.


2. Even if you're not a sports fan, what's your favorite sport to play/watch? We do not watch any sports in our house (I know I am lucky) although my daughter did ask if she could start watching football. I said yes. A couple of days later I saw her light up at the football snack comercial and realized she did not care about watching football she just wanted all the snacks on TV. I do not know anything hockey but I love watching it.


3. If you could pull off one piece of trendy fashion, what would you want it to be (jeggings, hats, thigh high boots, etc.)? knee boots or high heels, I think I have said it about a million time but I would love for someone to buy my size 11 foot cute shoes.


4. Did you make good grades in school? nope, just did well enough to get by. honestly I think my mom would have prefered me to stay home with her than be at school.


5. What magazines do you subscribe to? none currently but I have seen some great quilting magazines I would love to try
