Military Monday
Nothing much has changed in our military life this week. My husband is still being told he is switching units but has not been told which one yet. Hopefully they will figure it out soon. He had a three day weekend this weekend and it was wonderful. He took the older two kids to chop wood and then came home and split and stacked it. Friday is our yearly inspection for this house. Can I just tell you that it is days like this that make me hate renting a house. I long to be back in a house that I can paint and decorate my way. That I am not stressing about every time someone spills something on the floor. It is weeks like this that I want to call the people who are leasing our home in KY and tell them they can paint. How is everyone else handling military life? Do you have any plans to move soon? On a funny note, they have already closed schools on post for tomorow due to weather. I wish they would close post so my hero would be home. He already has a 4 day weekend next weekend.

Fill in the blank Friday
1. Winter is dark and busy. It seems like it is our busiest time for school, it is when the house goes downhill because it is so gloomy. It can be beautiful if you live where there is beautiful snow.
2. Summer is freedom, no school or at least a small break. It is a time to try new fun school projects with the kids. It is when I get lots of free time because my husband takes the kids fishing and on the boat.
3. If it were summer instead of winter right now I'd be taking the kids on a hike because my husband is off. Or maybe we would go to the beach for the day. I love getting them out of the house.
4. My favorite thing to do in winter is : bake bread, bake cookies, cook big meals, snuggle up under blankets. Enjoy a new book or movie. Enjoy our fireplace.
5. My favorite thing to do in summer is send my husband and children fishing, take my kids to the pool, sleep in and take days to do nothing but play on the computer.
6. The ideal outfit for a sunny summer day is Capri’s and a polo, a long skirt and a polo shirt. But honestly that is what I wear in the winter too.
7. The ideal outfit for a frigid winter day is sweatpants which I do not own. So flannel pajama pants and a t-shirt, a big t-shirt.

5 Question Friday
1. What is your current favorite book, and why? I have been reading it or not for 2 months. It is Beth Moore’s So Long insecurity. Why am I reading it? Because a friend suggested it. If you talk to me for more than 10 minutes I am explaining to you why I do what I am doing. It is crazy that I feel like I have to explain everything. I am also reading a chapter of Proverbs with a friend daily and discussing it on her blog frog.
2. Do you go to the dentist regularly? I did not for many years. That all changed about 4 years ago when I returned to the torture chamber and I have been a regular every 6 month patient. I think the dentist cries when he sees me walking in. Because he knows the minute I set down in the chair I am going to cry and shake and there is nothing that can be done. It is crazy how upset I am. Any suggestions would be accepted.
3. What is your worst memory from High School? Do not really have any. But I do have a funny one. In biology we had to draw a skeleton. I drew mine and the cute guy behind me looked over my shoulder and said “you drew that just like you”. He said I drew it with one hip up higher than the other. At the time that seemed great because that meant he was watching me walk.
4. What do you hope to be remembered for in your life? That I showed the love of Christ through my actions and not just my mouth.
5. Are you superstitious or do you have any superstitions? No, but I always think about them. You know step on a crack, break your moms back.

Amazing Grace
Thankful Thursday is one of my favorite things of the week. I love reminding myself to be grateful. Today we had small group. I am really enjoying small group. If you have been around me you know I LOVE praise and worship music. Tonight we took the time to sing hymns. Oh how it thrills me. This week we sang Amazing Grace it is one of the songs you love no matter how many times you sing it. Read the words and think about them.
"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see
T'was Grace that taught...
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear...
the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares...
we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far...
and Grace will lead us home.
The Lord has promised good to me...
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be...
as long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
a life of joy and peace.
When we've been here ten thousand years...
bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
then when we've first begun.

Oh, how I could do a year’s worth of blog post on this one. What about the first verse. I was blind but now I see. How awesome is that feeling, that feeling of knowing you are forgiven. That no matter what I did, I am forgiven. Those words are so freeing. What I have to remind myself is that I am forgiven and not to live in guilt with those sins.
I love the last part, when we’ve been there 10 THOUSAND years. That thought gets me through life. When I have been at my lowest and wondered how I would make it through the next hour I think back to that phrase. I remind myself that while I may live a hundred years on this earth I will live forever in heaven. Not a day or a year or even a hundred years but forever in my father’s safety. I want to take the time to think about the songs I am singing. To think about the man who sent his son for me, who has forgiven me for all my transgressions big and small? For that I will never have to repay.
