For the Joy of it

For the Joy of it
1. For the joy of it I will not stress this morning and will concentrate on school instead of cleaning. Although I know friends are coming this afternoon for a visit.
2. For the joy of it I will drink my mountain dew without guilt or worry of calories.
3. For the joy of it I will take time out of my weekend to work on my blog because I know it brings me joy.
4. For the joy of it I will try to make sure the house is straight so I can enjoy my husbands four day weekend.
5. For the joy of it I will work ahead in my study of James so that I will have time to go back and really let it soak in.
6. Yesterday I took the time to just set and rub my teenagers head because I know that he will not always want to lay on the couch and let me rub his head and I will miss this joy.

I am a slacker

Dear bloggy friends,
I feel so bad that I have neglected my blog. I love blogging. I do it because I love the interaction with other bloggers. I also do it because I want a journal of our lives.
For the last couple of months I have been a slacker. I have followed along with some of the carnivals but not much past that. I have so much to write about and catch up on. I promise to set down this weekend and update you.
We have been so busy. I had a wonderful friend visit from Missouri last weekend; I have another family visit today. My husband has had doctor’s appointments (nothing serious but will explain later), I have had a doctor’s appointment. Next week we have 3 different doctor’s appointments. It is crazy and trying to keep up is killing me.
It is so comical to me that a year go tomorrow we moved into this house. We have officially lived here a year. It is so weird to me that 18 months ago I thrived off of being involved and being out of the house. Today I love being in my home, I love staying home and getting things done.
So blogging friends (don’t ya love your new name) be prepared for lots of updates and lots of pictures.
My husband has a four day weekend and we have lots of wonderful things planned. Things like shopping for furniture and trimming bushes and cleaning out the garage and deep freezer and spending time together.
On a side note yesterday I received an amazing package. My mom sent me a crock pot. Last month I fell down my garage stairs and broke mine. I am the queen of falling.

True Story Tuesday

Could things have gone wrong in any other way? This weekend my best friend came to visit. Okay that seems very normal and nothing to write about. Well did I tell you she is a very conservative Mennonite? It was a wonderful weekend full of funny things. Like my girls wanting to only wear homemade clothes to look like her. One my daughters apologizing for us not cleaning up before she came. One daughter asking if she had seen anyone use a horse and buggy in “her world”. All weekend I heard my girls ask her questions about “her world”. But I think the funniest thing was Sunday morning. She went to church with us. First my husband pulled out his cell phone and started playing Farmville , he said it was okay because church had not started yet. He has never done this before and will probably never do this again. Then two female soldiers walked in. She said she knew that there were female soldiers but seeing them makes it real. So church starts and we sing and the pastor starts preaching. Then his cell phone rings. He was really preaching when it rang. Then he answered it and said it was his wife reminding him to remind the men about Valentine’s Day. I was in awe and I know she was. Later in the service he explained how things distract us. It was a total planned thing. At the end of the service another pastor prayed. It went something like this: dear heavenly father thank you for this day, thank you letting us learn about submitting to the holy spirit…..please remind us that we should submit to the holy spirit just as “husbands should submit to their wives”…..
I turned to her and said WAIT he did not mean that, he said it backwards. It was too funny. If any of these things had happened on their own it would not have been a big deal but the fact that it all happened in an hour was comical. I will have to wait and tell you how the man at the airport tried to convince her to give him a tip (for carrying her bags) by saying something like you know you help me and I will help you. When she said she did not know what he was talking about he said, well what you would do for your waiter at a restraint.
It was an amazing weekend and I cannot wait to tell you more.

Smores pie

This is the easiest recipe ever. I found the graham cracker crust for 29 cents and wish I would have bought a bunch more.
In the crust layer marshmallows and chocolate chips, bake at 250 for about 10 minutes. SO yummy! I realized this is a easy thing to make when you have a drop in visitor.

Pray for me Monday

It is a new week and a new week full of praises. I have some amazing praises. Last week my husband went to the doctor and the doctor said he thinks that my husband’s problem might just be asthma. Please understand I know asthma is serious but considering what we thought it was this is good news. My dear friend was able to visit me this weekend and I am still in shock. I had never met her in person. It was amazing. Hope is feeling better and has not had any other breathing problems. I am so thankful that my husband is home this year for Valentine’s Day.
Now to the prayer request. This afternoon I have a ultrasound of my thyroid and honestly I just feel like my growths have grown, I find myself clearing my throat more often. I will not know results until next week. I cannot think of the name of the growths right this minute. My friend’s daughter is having her baby tomorrow. I am so excited for her. Please pray that things go smoothly.
Do you have a prayer request or praise to share. I would love to pray for you or praise with you.
