What are we teaching our daughters?

I saw this post on Ordinary Inspirations and I was blown away. I have had some of these feelings for a while now but honestly I had not put any thought into her until my son brought it up to me because he knows how much my daughter likes her. After reading this post I do not think there is anything else for us to think about. I am so grateful that Traci is allowing me to re post this.
This is from Traci's blog:

Can't Be Tamed! Is This What We Are Teaching Our Daughters?
As a Mom, this video down right broke my heart. Seriously, it brought me to tears. It also enraged me. Is this what we are teaching our little girls? My precious four year old daughter, will one day be 8, and 10, and God help me now, 13!

Please be very careful what you allow your children to watch and who you allow them to follow and idolize. You do have a say in the matter!

Sin always lies. It promises gratification and pleasure, and always leaves one empty and alone.

I know that many young, innocent girls idolize her:

Personally, I've never seen what the hype is all about.

Again, after this video, I'm down right saddened. It is also scary. But not surprising.

With the rise in the vampire obsession and other sensual/evil films, this is now what our young girls are driven towards.

Sin. Darkness. Evil. (Insert Goosebumps here.)

A video full of sensuality, glamorizing having no control over our own bodies as women; that we can't be tamed by our own desire for men, sex, and all the evil pleasures of the world. Rolling around like an animal, rubbing hand against chest in a seductive way.

Down right disgusting. Pure evil. Some liken it to a Sodom and Gomorrah "feel".

I'm truly outraged. We need to take a stand as mothers and not allow this!

Teach your children at a young age who they should look up to. Show them godly examples of women in the Bible like Ruth and Esther. Read them stories about missionaries like Amy Carmichael and women of God stood up for their faith and love for God.

Better yet, be that living example of a woman that lives and obeys what God's says each day in your home.

Constantly remind them of these truths:
1) Sin always lies and brings destruction. (Proverbs 14:12)

2) Sin brings death and always has consequences. (James 1:15)

3) Be a leader, not a follower. Don't just be a crowd appeaser.

4) Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Dress and act in a modest way. (1 Cor. 6:19)

5) Don't seek to be noticed by men. God does not want us walking around, "advertising ourselves". There are street corners for that: (See Proverbs 7)

It is time that we stand up and say enough is enough. Don't be afraid to sit down and have a heart to heart with your daughter, who may be idolizing people like Miley Cyrus.

We need to be covering our children in prayer, and standing on the front lines of the battle for their eternal souls. If they know the Lord, Satan wants to feed them subtle lies like this video portrays.

Some lyrics to her song:

Have to get my way, 24 hours a day

I go through guys like money flyin' out their hands

I can't be tamed, I can't be saved
I can't be blamed, I can't, can't
I can't be tamed, I can't be changed
I can't be saved, I can't be (can't be)
I can't be tamed.

Mothers... tell your daughters, they can be tamed by the Blood of Christ!

I totally agree with this post! Thank you for putting it on your blog Pam! It is a very sad commentary that THIS is what our young children are listening to. Even more sad that her parents have allowed her to sing/act/dress in that manner. I also agree about the vampire craze. Vampires are evil.... scriptures that come to mind: "I will set no wicked thing before my eyes" "Abstain from ALL appearance of evil" (doesn't say it has to be real... this verse is very helpful in guiding what we watch and read) Another point - the Bible forbids the eating/drinking of blood.. which a vampire does... another reason we should not fall into that current craze.

We have to work diligently to safeguard our children's hearts.
