Promotion Day



STAFF SERGEANT ROBERT D. PETRIE

Staff Sergeant Robert D. Petrie was born in 1971 in Huntington West Virginia. He also attended Marshall University for two years. He entered the U.S. Army on the 23rd of July 1993 and conducted basic training at Fort Sill Oklahoma, and Advance Individual training at Redstone Arsenal Alabama. He served three years in the Army reserves before going on to active duty 1 March 1996.
During his career, Staff Sergeant Petrie has deployed to Iraq twice in support of Operation Iraqi freedom. He has also deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as well as Albania/ Kosovo, and two tours in Bosnia. His assignments include Fort Campbell Kentucky; Illishiem Germany; Fort Riley Kansas; Kuwait; and Redstone Arsenal Alabama. He has served in various positions which include Squad leader, Ammunition Section Sergeant, Ammunition Section Chief, III/V Platoon Sergeant, and Military Transition Team Sergeant and is presently serving as a Senior Instructor/ Writer.
Staff Sergeant Petrie’s military education includes army basic training Fort Sill Oklahoma; Advance Individual Training for Ammunition Specialist Redstone Arsenal Alabama; Advance Military Transition Team Camp Taji Iraq; Military Transition Team Fort Riley Kansas; Basic Non Commissioned Officer Course, Total Army instructor Training, System Approach to training Redstone Arsenal Alabama; Air Assault School, Fort Campbell Kentucky.
Staff Sergeant Petrie’s Awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, The Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), The Army Achievement Medal (6OLC), The Good Conduct Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War of Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon(Numeral 2) Army Service Ribbon, Over Seas Service Ribbon (Numeral 3), Kosovo NATO Ribbon, NATO Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, Drivers Badge.
Staff Sergeant Petrie is currently residing in Huntsville, AL with his Wife Pamela, and four children Michael, Faith, Hope, and Grace. He is currently assigned as a Senior Instructor for the Munitions Training Department under the 59th Ordnance Brigade

On a side note, I have to tell you the ceremony was short and sweet with only one glitch I forgot to kiss my husband. So the Sargeant Major Stopped my husband in the middle of his speach and I had to walk back up and kiss him. There was a comment about how long the kiss was. I say if your going to do it, do it right. Honestly it was not that long.
