Being Honest

I keep seeing this poor momma being bashed. My heart breaks because I am sure she did not intend this to happen. It is easy to say hold onto your child. But let me ask you a question, have you ever gone to the restroom without your child? In that time your child could have touched a stove, played in the cat litter or a million other things.
I keep my kids on leashes and in strollers often when we are at events and people look at me like I am crazy. But I know how fast they are. I know that I cannot keep my eyes on each child.
I cannot imagine the guilt this poor momma has. I am sure she is having night mares. I am sure that she has learned a lot. Guess what when I left my child in the car completely by accident I learned a lot. I would have told you that I would have never NEVER of left my baby in a car alone. But one day I did. Actually every person in my house left that child in the car. THREE ADULTS, did not realize that he was in the car. Accidents happen. They are sad and scary but not neglectful.
I hate that this precious animal is no longer alive. I hate that the zoo is getting negative feed back. I hate that this child will have memories of this. I hate that this mom will always be known as the mom who allowed her child into a gorilla enclosure.
But I will not act like I am any better than this mom.

Stay With Me

It is snowing outside. Jacob is ready to be busy.
This morning Faith sat him down. She asked him if she could start school and he said no. She asked  if she could do her chores and he said no.

I wish everything could stop and we could just play all day.
In case you were wondering that is his bike from Christmas that stays in the house. I figure the wheels have not gotten dirty yet and it keeps him busy.

Babies in the House

My husband has to be the most tolerable man. He does big like having outside animals in the house but sometimes when he walks into the living room he finds a baby goat. Or the bunny that should stay outside.
He just shakes his head at us and smiles. Honest, I think he is faking and would have all of them in the house if he could.

Bath Bombs

It is that time of year. The time of year that we get ready for farmers market and craft shows.
I won't lie my children love this time of year because they get to sample all that we make.
These bath bombs are great for when you have a cold or are congested.

Baby it is Cold Outside

Jacob wants you to know that it is cold here.
Really cold and he has to keep his head warm. I understand how he feels. Most days you can find me under a electric blanket trying to keep warm.

Oven Baked Chicken

I love chicken. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life it would be chicken.
Just when I think I have had chicken every way possible we come up with a new way. This time my husband breaded the chicken and then baked it in our cast iron skillets.
This may be our new favorite way to have chicken.

New Projects

My amazing husband is back at it. He is building is a new goat house and pen. They are going to be so spoiled.
Yes they have a porch to lay under. Everyone needs a porch. The plan is to pain the chicken coop the same red and eventually the barn.

This is Charity setting on the porch with Hope. This is why we think everyone needs a porch.

Birdie tells us thank you for her new yard.

Craft Show Helpers

This weekend we attended a craft show. Normally Jacob stays home. This is to protect the other vendors.
So Rob brought him to help me pack up. He thought it was a blast to help clean up.

I love doing craft shows with Grace. I love the time we get together.

Putting on a Show

Faces, sneaky faces who drink his sisters creamer and make mommy think it is milk. You know because if it was white and in a cup mommy would think it was our raw goats milk.
Sometimes he thinks if he puts glasses on we will not notice he is doing something sneaky.

Being this cute is hard work. So sometimes when you are strapped into a car seat and you have no way to get attention then you just rest and get ready for your next show.

New Soaps

Farmers market starts in one month. So we have been working on new soaps.  I cannot wait to share them with you.
We have some wonderful new flavors. Things like sherbet and Forever Red and Amazing Grace. Oh wait, I forgot to tell you about monkey farts and patchouli.

It is time to move them into my soap room but I just can't bring myself to take them downstairs when they smell so amazing.

My Smile

I normally do not post pictures of myself since I gained all my weight back. I don't like my teeth or my skin or my weight.
But you know what I do like. I love my children's smile.  And I want them to have pictures with me.

I want to show them pictures of how they held my arm to fall asleep.

So for today I will not look at the roll off at or the not so perfect smile. I will look at her smile, I will look at how content he is in my arms.

Handstands are Dangerous

A couple of weeks ago I took Grace for a pedicure. She loved it and I will probably never get a pedicure alone again.
Sadly just a couple of days later she was doing handstands in the basement when she fell and cracked a bone in her foot.

We are so grateful that she is not in a cast. She is healing and finding fun ways to keep her leg elevated.

Raised Bed Gardens

Good morning! I cannot believe if is almost summer. The weather is warming up and and I can see sunshine.
We have been busy doing some fun improvements around our little farm. We decided to scale back our garden. I know that sounds crazy but for the last two years we were big able to keep up with our big garden.
This year we are trying our hands at raised bed gardening. It actually was pretty easy considering we have plenty of compost from the goats.
I am excited to have less to weed this year. We built the boxes and filled them half with compost then topped with top soil. We also did our tomatoes in five gallon buckets.  This year is about keeping it simple. I am telling myself I can buy anything else I need from the farmers market.
