Dirty Toothbrushes
I am so glad that I did not brush my teeth in the dark. I happened to look at the toothbrush and thought it looked weird. My toothbrush has apparently been used to clean something. I really do not want to know what but I have a pretty good idea. I am curious, have your blessings used your toothbrush for things other than brushing teeth?

The day i lost a child
It was my first time taking all six kids on a trip overnight by myself. I was pumped. I can do this, my big kids help and I can do this. I love my life and I can do this. We make the drive; it was only 4.5 hours away. Check into the hotel, visit family, go swimming and drive back to the hotel. Within 20 minutes of entering the hotel room everyone knew where they were sleeping and was asleep. I thought man we should all sleep this close every night.
The first night the baby slept in the floor on a mattress. He woke up crying. When I went to find him he was gone but I heard his crying. He had scooted beside a bed and was angled in a way that was uncomfortable. A couple of nights later he was again sleeping on the mattress. Well I woke up at 4:45am and covered up all the kids. Only the baby was gone. The curtain was partially open so I thought maybe he was back into that spot again but he was not. I looked all over and he was nowhere to be found. I looked under tables and chairs and still no baby. I was in panic mode. No idea where he was, all those horror movie played through my head. I seriously was freaking out (in the maybe 45 seconds it took me to look everywhere). I walked back into the other room (we were in a suite) and noticed Jason did not have a blanket so I covered him up again. Well inside his blanket was a tiny little body. I guess he decided he wanted to sleep in bed with Jason and Michael. I almost cried when I found him.
The funny thing is that he is a cuddle bug all day and lives for being held and snuggled. But when he is sleeping he does not like to be covered up or touched.
Overall it was an amazing weekend and I would not have changed it for anything.

Adoption Update
I have a friend who is on her final push to adopt to precious new blessings. She could really use your prayers and financial help. I have been inspired over the last couple of years by her and how her life has changed. They have already adopted 2 little boys and are not in the process of adopting a little boy and a little girl. Please visit her at A Homespun Heritage

Banana Pie
Okay this seriously was so much fun. And of course I found it on the all mighty Pinterest. First, take sweetened Condensed milk and put it in a bot of water. Make sure the water is constantly covering the top of the can.Boil for 2.5 hours. When you open the can after 2.5 can you have the best dip in the world.
So for the recipe I used a store bough Graham cracker crust and filled it with bananas, covered it with a can of this goodness and then covered it with cool whip before shaving some chocolate on top. Yummy, yummy and yummy.
If you are boiling one can you might as well boil 3 or 5 cans and use it for dip for fruit. YUMMY.

Hotel living
Ugg, I am getting old. We decided to go away for the weekend. My first time traveling with 6 kids. So first the hotel charges me double and says it will come right back off. NOPE, luckily I have USAA and they fixed the hotel error. Then last night I get the kids asleep which by the way so much easier than I thought. That was until 10:40 when a group of seniors came in.
Here is where I am old, at almost midnight I lost it and called the front desk. She assured me they had there own chaperones and security. Yeah, not working. It was 1:30 and they will still talking about food orders outside my door. So this morning I complained again. They said they would be here again tonight but assured me they would be in there room by 11pm. I decided to switch rooms to a floor without teenagers. The thing is when I check in I unpack suitcases and organize the room. Glad I enjoy doing this because I have done it twice in 24 hours.
I am not mad at the hotel, I could the employee was beyond over whelmed and was really trying to keep them quiet.
Today we are going to a POW WOW and I am so excited. I have never been to one. I just wish I would have brought my good camera. What are your weekend plans?

5 Question Friday
1. Are you a napper? Oh yes, as often as possible. Oh to be told to go to bed for an hour. Really it is more like 10 minutes on the couch. On Mother’s day I asked each of my children how they thought I like to relax and they each said taking a nap or going to bed.
2. What was your favorite subject in school? Most hated? My favorite was Home Ec with Mrs. Chapman. She taught us how to live and not just like she was doing a job. Every time I start cooking I always remember what she told me. As far as hated I do not think I hated any of it, there were teachers that I did not like the football couch I had for health (I think). I swear I do not think we learned anything all year.
3. Did you have the something old new borrowed and blue at your wedding? What were they? It seems like I remember something but honestly for the life of me I cannot remember what they were or who they were from.
4. What one thing are you determined to do this summer? A quilt or two. I have everything I need to make two just need time to set down and work on them.
5. Ice cream or Popsicles? Ice cream, love it. Sadly since the birth of my last child anytime I have ice cream I feel sick. It is just not fair. I keep thinking maybe after my next pregnancy it will go back to normal day.

Home Inspection
We have our yearly home inspection today and I am a nervous wreck. What if the grass is not perfect or there is a spot on the wall. What if the kids act up or the owner has decided to sale and I need to try to move with 6 kids.It has always gone well before but this time it is different with Rob being deployed. Please pray with me that I have kept the house well and she is happy with how things are. It was my idea to rent intstead of buy again but man it is hard.

efoodsdirect
Have you heard of efoodsdirect? I was recently contacted by them to ask if I would be interested in trying some of their products. I am really excited to get them in and try them. The pictures make the food look amazing.
I think what I like most is that we really just do not know when a disaster will happen. Last year I was visiting my mom when my husband called to say they had no electricity. Within minutes I realized I a hurricane had come through our town. It took over 24 hours to get electricity again. I know to some people that does not sound like very long but with six kids it is scary. We have really been thinking about what we need to do to be prepared. Luckily when we lost electricity my hero was home with the kids. They probably would have starved if it was with just me.
I copied a few things from there site to share with you:
•
• Quick and easy meal preparation for all budgets.
eFoodsDirect meals are perfect for busy mothers, camping trips, and students because they are easy to prepare, lightweight to carry and cost an average of $1.50 or less per serving. All this and a shelf life of up to 25 years.
Help others you love eat well.
eFoodsDirect
meals can help elderly parents, those recovering from illness or injury easily feed themselves. Our products offer high quality nutrition and provide peace of mind. You are what you eat, and we won't give you any old ingredients, especially when valued sustenance is a key component to your daily meals.
Storms and Weather. Catastrophic events, as we have seen, could make food impossible to transport, destroy crops, and isolate people from supplies. Serious American crop failures are creating shortages of food to be processed into supplies for people to store, even though you may not have seen these shortages yet in the grocery stores.
I will let you know how the food tastes when I get it. I am so excited to try new food. The pictures are making me hungry.

Wordless Wednesday
Grace is definitely my little momma. I love this picture because it looks like James is thinking "seriously". He is such a snuggle bug recently. His favorite word is up. I often wonder how he learned to walk because he is always has someone to pick him up.

Sprinkler fun
My son recently had to do a project for boyscouts. He had to do one with the family and one for the family. So he chose to make us a walk through sprinkler system. He taught the girls to use a drill and he learned to cut PVC pipe. It was honestly alot of fun and I am ready to start making a bunch of things out of PVC pipe. Can you guess where I found out how to make this? Your right on Pinterest. The actually design came from Sixsisterstuff. They made it so easy for me.
Now if only I can keep my dog from chewing our water hose.

Kissing
I have a problem. I have this man in my life and I just cannot stop kissing him. It has been a problem since we were in high school. It makes me feel safe and secure and like all is right with the world.
One time in high school we had a disagreement. We made up and well did what all high school sweethearts do after a disagreement. We kissed. All was well in the world. Well until I heard my history teacher call us out. You see kissing was prohibited. He sent us to the principle. The theory was if you were caught doing such things you were suspended. I was not worried about that. But I thought he must be terrified because he was a straight A student and did not get in trouble. So there we sat in the principal’s office. He walks in (I wonder why I cannot remember his name). Takes a look at me and then at my husband (wait I mean boyfriend). And ask us if the kissing was worth being suspended. My boyfriend says YES, what he is a goody tooshu. The principle almost laughed and reminded us there was a football game Friday night. So because he was a football player they sent us back to class with a warning.
I am happy to report that nothing has changed and we still kiss all the time. It is mornings like this I miss his kisses, that I need his kisses. A way to tell me all is still right with the world. A way to tell me that he still loves me and that he is safe. Twenty years later and his kids are still as soft as in high school, how is that possible?

Cooking with kids
I love to cook, I love to cook for other people. The problem is/was that my girls always want to help. I keep forgetting that they are really old enough to help me. This week I need to make banana pudding and decided this was a perfect time to ask for there help. I am determined to let them help me more. I need to remind myself the more they help the less I have to do.
Do your children help you cook, do they cook for you?

Monkey Joe's
We recently went to Monkey Joe's with friends from church. I was very intimidated to take 6 kids to a bounce house. I could not have paid for things to go better. We had the whole building to ourselves. The employees were amazing. I have never seen employees have so much fun. They ran and played with the kids. They bounced and jumped and talked.
I love the way they watched the door and watched to make sure each child was safe the entire time. I felt like I could relax and really enjoy the evening.

Sunday Mornings
Today I am talking about how to tackle things. I want to tell you about our Sunday mornings. Oh boy, we need to leave the house by 7:30am. That means 6 kids up and buckled in the van by 7:25. So how do I do this?
1. Make sure the house is straightened up on Saturday night, because well honestly I am a bear if I have to step over things or something cannot be found.
2. Give everyone bathes throughout the day on Saturday instead of waiting until bedtime.
3. Brush and braid my 9 year olds hair, cuts on the screaming about it being tangled when I brush it out on Sunday morning. She still fusses but not as much.
4. Review what we are going to wear on Sunday and make sure we have shoes THAT FIT, ready to go.
5. Make a list of what I need to take; I often cook at church on Sundays for 80 people. So I need to make sure I have everything so I do not need to turn around.
6. Make sure the diaper bag is filled up with everything to include extra clothes for the younger three children.
7. We eat poptarts on Sunday mornings, yes store bought horrible for you poptarts so they can eat in the van.
8. And finally we leave the house early, so I will have time to stop for gas or traffic. That way I am not rushed or stressed.
Okay, so it does not always go as smoothly as I want but this is the goal. By the way if the house is straightened then when I come home on Sunday afternoons I can nap. Which is my favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon.

Cordon Blue
One of the things I love about our church is that we have a meal every Sunday after church and every Wednesday before church. I love this because it gives me a chance to cook large meals. I love cooking for a large group.
I saw this on recipe on pinterest and could not wait to try it. Sadly I cannot find my picture of the finished product.
This recipe is really easy and warms up really yummy. I made a ton of casseroles on Saturday and then re warmed them up at church.
In a 9*13 pans layer rice, chicken, swiss cheese, lunch meat ham (the recipe calls for better ham but I had a bunch of lunch meat ham), then combine 2 cans cream of chicken soup, 1/2 cup milk, and 1/2 cup sour cream and spread on top, then cover with crushed ritz crackers. Quick and easy. This recipe originally came from Oraganize and Decorate Everything.
I have made this recipe several times and it is always a hit. I am loving Pinterest, although I can still not pronounce it's name. You can dream about anything and find anything there. And in case you are wondering you can find me under Trooppetrie.

Clean-up
Recently my sons boyscout troop had a job to clean up before a camp out. The little kids loved it. Jason constantly talks about when he can join boyscouts and when he can go on camp outs. He is so excited. The boys really jumped in and helped clean up leaves. I loved it because it kept them busy and they loved it because they felt like big boys.
I loved being there and watching my son clean up, watching how generous the older boyscouts are with there time and there willingness to help play with my kids.
