Captain crunch chicken tenders

I learned about this chicken strip recipe from My Little Life. Such a easy recipe. It is the basic chicken tender only instead of coating in bread crumbs you crush up a box of Captain Crunch and coat in it. My children are in love. They could not eat it fast enough. I thought it was a little too sweet but they loved it.

1 egg
1/2 cup vegetable oil (I used melted butter)
3/4 cup brown sugar (packed and divided)

4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a medium bowl combine the oatmeal and milk; allow to stand for 15 minutes. Grease or line muffin tin with paper liners.
Stir egg, oil, 1/2 cup brown sugar, chocolate chips, and 1/2 cup nuts into the oat and milk mixture.
In a large bowl combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the oatmeal mixture to the flour mixture, stirring until just moist.
Fill each muffin cup 2/3 fill.
Combine the remaining brown sugar and nuts, sprinkle on top of the muffins.
Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Tempt My Tummy

Blessed with Grace So what do you think is going on in this picture.
How to make the best strawberry smoothie. First you wake up early and take a drive to your local strawberry field and pick at least 3 buckets of strawberries because you know the year is about over. Then you go to Sam's and pick up bananas and head home because your son is not feeling well (all the sudden).
Now take about 10 Strawberries (or more if you picked 3 buckets full). Mix in a banana and about 2 cups of yogurt. We used strawberry although we normally use plain. Add a few ice cubes and set your blender to smoothie and then enjoy. This was my girls dinner and I am sure that they will have it for breakfast again. This was a wonderful day. We actually went with a few ladies from church but I did not get permission to post there pictures.Hope is teaching another little girl how to go potty outside. I gotta love my girls.

I tried to make chocolate bowls this weekend but when I popped the balloons they stuck there. I do not know if my chocolate was not thick enough or what. Do you have any suggestions?

dog biscuits

Blessed with GraceWhen we were looking for Christmas cookie cutters we found a dog bone. Well actually Rob did. So I was on the search for a dog biscuit recipe. Honest they are a little too big for our little dog so next time we will roll them thinner but our big dog WOW. Every night before we lock him up we give him a treat, a hotdog, piece of leftover dinner or something. Now we give him these, he loves them.
I did not have spelt flour so i used all whole wheat. i am on a hunt for a small dog bone cookie cutter. I know I could they do not have to look like dog bones but I think it is cute

2 cups whole wheat flour, or as needed 2 cups spelt flour 2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats 1/4 cup flax seeds 2 1/2 cups warm water 1/2 cup natural peanut butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Combine wheat flour, spelt flour, oats, and flax seeds in large bowl. Stir in water and peanut butter. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface, mixing in more flour as needed until dough is smooth and no longer sticky. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut with small cookie cutters into desired shapes, and place 3/4 inch apart on greased cookie sheets.
Bake 40 minutes. Turn oven off; leave biscuits in oven until completely cool.

Today, I am re doing one of my favorite cake recipes. It is a rainbow cake. I learned how to do it from I am Baker . The pictures of the unbaked cake are from last weekend but the cake is from a few months ago. This is really a easy cake although it looks hard. I am not publishing the recipe so I can give credit where it is due.

Tempt m,y tummy Tuesday-part one

I won a jar of Marmite from Living Life the Large Family Way. I did not know what to think about it exactly. So I opened it and smelled it and then convinced 2 of my 4 children to try it. They were not happy. So I looked it up on line. Lots of people really eat it. I am determined to find a recipe to hide it in. I can not imagine eating it without hiding it in something. If you have ever had it and would love to teach me more about it let me know. I am so grateful for this prize and look forward to hearing more about it

1. What is Marmite?
Marmite is dark brown-colored savory spread made from the yeast that is a by-product of the brewing industry. It has a very strong, slightly salty flavor. It is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it type of food.
It comes in small (2-5 inches high) bulb-shaped glass jars with a distinctive yellow lid.
Children in Britain are generally fed it from the time they are weaned, and most never grow out of it. It has a high B-vitamin content, as well as riboflavin and niacin—and as such is very healthy. (The vitamin-B complex helps prevent a 2. What do I do with it?
The most common use is as a spread on toast or in sandwiches. Note: it is generally spread very thinly because of its strong flavor—don't use it like jam. It has drug-like qualities; the more you eat, the thicker you need to spread it to get the same mouth-burning effect. Some people have even called it addictive.
It is also delicious spread on hot buttered crumpets or ryvita crackers. A pregnant fan has reported a love for Marmite and bananas.
Phil Johnson's favorite way to eat it is thinly-spread on rye toast with slices of sharp cheddar cheese. Very satisfying.
One contributor to the "I love Marmite" Web site has this suggestion: "Eat it on raw spaghetti. It's true! Dip raw spaghetti in Marmite and then eat; it tastes just like Twiglets."
A lot of Brits have it on buttered toast. Do take care not to get butter or bread crumbs in the Marmite jar. It makes an unappetizing mess for the next person.
There is no feeling like the smugness you feel when you manage to scrape just enough Marmite from the jar for another piece of toast. Top tip (from James Kew): pour boiling water into a near-empty jar and drink the jar clean.
A teaspoon of Marmite can also be added to soups, casseroles, and almost any savory food for a wonderful, rich flavoring.
In England, pretzel-like morsels and other boxed fast-food snacks are available with Marmite flavoring. Fans of Mr. Bean will remember an episode where he made hors d'oeuvres for a party by spreading Marmite on twigs cut from a tree outside his kitchen window.
In some neighborhoods it is (apparently!) common for nursing mothers to dab a little on their nipples before feeding their infants.
3. What are the ingredients?
Marmite is made from (greater quantity first):
• Yeast Extract
• Salt
• Vegetable Extract
• Vitamin: Niacin
• Spices
• Vitamins: B1, B2, Folic Acid, B12

Tempt my tummy Tuesday-poptarts

Blessed with Grace

I have made home made poptarts before with store bought pie crust but this time I decided to make it. I used strawberry jam, nutella and apple butter in the center of these. I am freezing them to eat on busy days. For the shell
2 and 1/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup salt
1/2 shortening chilled
2 TBSP butter chilled
5-6 TBSP ice water

1. mix flour and salt together
2. cut in shortening and butter
3. add water 1 TBSP at a time
4. separate into 2 bowls and chill
5. roll out and fill, it really does not take much to fill them, seal the edges.

This week is extra special because I am using my new bakeware I won from The Legacy of Home. I am a die hard Pampered Chef stone person but these are wonderful. They worked better than I could have imagined. I can not wait to make pizza on them in the next couple of days
