5 Question Fridays
Let me start by saying I am up at 4am writing this. I could not sleep so I thought okay I will go ahead and write up my 5 Question Friday post. I might be slightly addicted to my Friday post.
Can I change the subject for a minute and complain. I thought okay I will come in the living room and watch some trash TV (netflix) and fall asleep. Only to realize that my TV remote and my netflix remote batteries are DEAD. Can you explain to me how that happened.
Okay, let’s get started. The questions this week are:
Oh wait one more thing. Did you know this little old blog is hosting a give away? Did you know that this give away has only a couple of entries? Did you know that makes this blogger very sad? Do a friend a favor and enter this amazing give away. Remember we all start small and if we want bigger give anyways have to show the world it is worth it to them. By the way you can enter right here.
Okay, let’s start for real this time. This weeks questions are:
1. How often should adults have birthday parties? If we are talking dinner and fun with a few friends I say every chance you get. If we are talking themes and decorating and someone organizing a bunch then only on big birthdays.
2. What was your room decorated like when you were a child? I do not remember ever having it decorated. I do not even remember having posters hung up. (mom did I have posters or decorations?). I have been told that I kept it fairly straightened up. At one house we lived in my room was the only room downstairs and it was like 2 rooms combined. I remember that being my favorite room and feeling like it was something special.
3. Do you have any traditions for Easter? If so, what? and do you have a why behind that? We use to do the whole egg hunt and Easter basket and fancy dresses. We have slowly dwindled down to a small gift and maybe a new outfit. I am past the fancy dresses because my girls do not want to wear them outside of that week. This year I actually let the girls pick there own. Honestly, it was a bad mistake because they are horrible blue jeans dresses. Even if it was not Easter they would be bad. But they like them and honestly am I not telling them daily Easter is not about the fancy dresses. On the other side I have no problem with anyone making there kids big Easter baskets full of chocolate and toys. As long as you remember why we have Easter.
4. Do you get Good Friday off? If so, any plans? Oh yeah my hero has a 4 day weekend. Today I am going to a oil class (DoTerra) and then taking my baby girl to buy shoes. Saturday I need to go grocery shopping and then it is time to start cleaning out the house. On Sunday we will cook at church and then home for naps before having friends come over. I love having friends over.
5. Did you wear hats & white shoes to church on Easter? (Or was that just in the South?) I did not but until a few years ago I always put my girls in lacey dresses. I only have one who enjoys that now. I won’t lie when I walk in church and see all those girls in little hats and white gloves I just smile. I might be slightly jealous.

A Crazy Weekend
What a weekend. Let me start by telling you the weekend I had planned.. My big boys had a camping trip with scouts so I had a girls weekend planned. Friday night I was going out with friends for the first time in MONTHS. You know dinner, dessert and a movie where I did not have to share my popcorn or take anyone else to the bathroom. Then Saturday morning I was taking the kids to a friends while I took my big girl out for a day of shopping and movies and pedicures. Then Saturday night I would come home and order pizza for dinner before putting kids in bed and taking a LONG bath (I have not taken a bath in over a year because honestly I did not fit in my bathtub). Then the best part I got to go to bed alone. I know it sounds weird but I LOVE sleeping alone. Doesn’t this sound like the perfect weekend.
So after reading this how do you think my weekend went. Let me start with Friday. I decided we were going to take a mini spring break because I have appointments all day on Monday and Tuesday and one on Friday. So Friday morning we got up and cleaned. I mean like mopped floors and cleaned bathrooms and put away ALL the laundry. I was determined to come home to a clean house so I could relax this weekend. I also knew we had a 10:30 appointment so starting school for a couple of hours seemed silly. We left the house at 10:30 and had lunch with dad. That is the first time in MONTHS that we have had a family dinner out. Then my husband took part of the group to a appointment and I took part roller skating.
Okay we are at noon and everything is still going great. Roller skating went great. Well except for the fact that they forgot to put out wet paint signs and I got red paint all over my favorite (and only dress that fits me). Things went so well that I let the kids get a treat on the way out. Three of them even got blue slushies. Just so you know that was a BAD idea. We came home just about 20 minutes before my sitter walked in. I gave her instructions for the night.
Sounds great so far right. I went to dinner with a friend at a place I had never eaten at and it was amazing. Then we went to the movies and I got a large popcorn and ate most of it. During the movie I noticed that the sitter called twice. So I texted to ask if everything was okay. She assured me it was. Except it was messing. Apparently Jason had gotten sick twice and the baby had a blow out diaper. Honestly, I thought maybe the baby had too much apple juice and that Jason got upset about something. He has a habit of making himself upchuck when he gets mad.
So I came home. To find wet spots on the carpet and blue slushie on his bedroom carpet. Let me just say the sitter really did do a great job at cleaning up but blue slushie does not come out. Everyone was in bed and I thought things were okay. So I skipped the bath and went to bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow I heard the noise. The noise that makes every mother jump and run. So the baby got sick and then he slept through the night.
I went back to bed and slept great until 5am. When the baby woke up with full blown stomach bug. Jason woke up back to himself. By 10am both boys were perfect. So I spent the day doing laundry and making bread and resting.
I was honestly looking forward to my husband coming home because stomach bug clean up is his job and he does not have a weak stomach. He called at 6 to say he was on his way home. Only he was not coming home to help me clean up. He was sick. He did stop and pick up reinforcements for me. So he came home and went straight to bed. Things were okay, he is a big boy and can take care of himself. And I went to bed, well really I went to the couch because I am not getting near someone who is sick.
Well at 11pm the big boy text me from his room to say he is sick. As crazy as it sounds he has been the hardest to take care of. He was up until 5am sick and telling me. I am glad my big strong boy still needs his mommy. But honestly I was not very sympathetic because I do not want to be near that sickness.
So for now all the boys have been sick and the girls are happy and healthy. So what do you think should I take the girls and run to a hotel for a few days.

5 Question Friday
1. What advice would you give a newly married couple? Take time for one another, never stop making time for one another. Date one another even if it means putting kids to bed early and lighting candles and watching a movie. But NEVER stop talking and dating one another.
2. Who does more laundry around your house? My ten year old washes and dries the laundry, I fold the laundry and it is a joint effort to get it put away. I love that she can do the laundry. Even if it means some of my clothes get dried or ever stain is not treated.
3. What items, if any, do you prefer to buy organic or make yourself? I prefer to make everything myself when I can. I do not buy anything organic unless it is on sale.
4. What book/TV series would you recommend for a friend on bed rest? Oh man bed rest is a bad word in my house. With our last pregnancy I was in the hospital for 5 weeks on bed rest. Horrible, horrible, so I would say anything that is a series and takes longer to watch. The Love Saga, Little house on the prairie, Matlock. Anything that will last more than a day. I am curious why they call it bed rest because let me tell you when you are in a hospital there is no resting. And not only that when you lay flat on your back for 5 weeks straight your brain is mush and you cannot even think.
5. So, they say it's Spring now...what does your "spring" look like at this very moment? COLD, wet and Cold and irritated. Spring is teasing me right now and I am not happy. It sneaks in and shows me flowers blooming or sunshine just enough to make my skin red. Then the next day it is cold and we want to start a fire. SPRING, do you hear me SPRING please come back to me. I need you SPRING, do you hear me calling.
On a side note spring needs to hurry up so I can enjoy it before one I get uncomfortable pregnant and the temps reach a 100 degrees. I do NOT want summer. So spring and summer can battle it out.

I know the pictures are dark but I wanted to show you what we eat for movie nights. James loves to be given a whole cucumber. He eats it like a apple. Grace likes popcorn only she picks up a handful and squishes it. I asked her why and she said it makes it fits better in her mouth. I love this child.

Oh and I can show you this amazing cup my friend got me. It looks like a mason jar only it is plastic with a lid. If you know me you know this is exactly what I need.

5 Question Friday
1. What is one thing you wish you did not have to teach your children? That people are not good and they have to be cautious. That death happens. And on a lighter note I do not like to teach reading.
2. What are you going to use since Google Reader is going away? I do not think I use Google reader like I should. I have all my favorite blogs saved as favorites and just click on them. Someone please tell me how else this is going to affect me.
3. British comedy; Hilarious or strange? Funny with a strange twist.
4. Do you prefer card games or board games? I am a bad mom and do not like either. I guess I would say card games like phase 10 and uno would be favorite.
5. Will winter ever end? No, it is hanging on. It knows I need sunshine and I need to be outside exercising. I need spring to be motivated to start exercising again. Otherwise I am going to gain 100 pounds during this pregnancy.

Bugs, Bugs and more Bugs
Hope got a ant farm for Christmas. Her ants finally came in this week. I cannot tell you the amount of hours that have been spent watching them. She even took them to church on Wednesday night to show a Chaplain that has bees. This poor man has made a life long friend. Anyone who will discuss bugs is someone she considers a friend.

Miscellany Monday
What a wonderful week. First I made bread that turned out looking nice. My bread is normally not very pretty. This time I took the time to really work the dough and it was really worth it.
Our weeks seem to be getting busier and busier so this week I spent time cooking ahead. I made egg muffins and breakfast wraps. I need protein in the mornings but do not want the mess of clean up. I also made spaghetti and taco meat. Then we cooked a ton of chicken, now I have chicken to eat for tacos and for chicken alfredo. So for the most part meals are made for this week. This will help a lot.
The weather is turning pretty and I am ready for it. I am ready to start walking again. My weight is inching up there faster than I want. I know I could cut back on my eating but that is not fun so I need to get back to my exercise.

Play Dates
There is nothing like a playdate at a friends. This is Jame's favorite place to play. Between the toys and the snacks he is beyond thrilled. It might also have something to do with the fact that there is someone smaller than him to play with. I cannot wait to give this boy a baby brother or sister to play with. He is going to be a great big brother.

Breakfast Ideas
Today I am trying to cook ahead. We have several appointments next week so I am trying to work ahead. So this morning I made pumpkin chocolate muffins for snacks, breakfast burritos and egg muffins.
Chocolate muffins
1 box sugar free chocolate cake mix
1 can pumpkin
Mix and then mix some more and maybe mix some more. I made them into mini muffins. These are great for snacking and only about 60 calories a piece. They could even be topped with cool whip. You could also make these with a sugar free cake mix.
Breakfast Burritos
Scramble and cook eggs
Cut turkey bacon in half
Shredded cheese
Layer ingredients on a tortilla shell and wrap. Then wrap in saran wrap. I lay mine on a large cutting board and freeze so they lay flat. Once they are frozen I put in Ziplocs.
These are great for when we have to rush out of the house. Pull as many as you need out of the freezer and unwrap. Microwave for 45 seconds (depending on microwave)
Egg muffins
Make your scrambled egg mixture
Cook and crumble your meat. We like to use turkey bacon and turkey sausage
In the bottom of the pan put one rolled out biscuit. I buy the small biscuits (you know the kind that comes 4 cans to a pack).
Layer your cheese, meat and anything else you would like. We make some with peppers and some without.
Bake according to biscuit package
I keep them in the fridge and just through them in the microwave as we are walking out the door. These are great to eat in the car.
My husband likes to eat his with salsa if we are at home.
Pamela
Serving others
This week my kids were asked to help at a promotion ceremony. The girls served food and Michael worked sound. They did great and had a great time. Well one of them got bored waiting on everyone to come back. Can you guess which one that was? I love that my kids enjoy serving others. I hope that is something that never changes. They did get paid for working the ceremony but did not expect that to happen.
I think the large amount of fruit and brownies may have made the day easier for them.

5 Question Fridaty
1. Does your family coordinate clothing for church on holidays like Easter? As often as we can. It is sad that my girls do not enjoy it anymore. So I at least try to do matching colors.
2. How do you get out of a funk? Eat more often than I care to admit. Really I turn the music up loud and clean or take a nap
3. Online friends - real friendships or not? Uh oh, gonna get me on a soap box. Actually I am in a yahoo (okay facebook now) group. There are 10 ladies and we have been together forever. Everyone knows someone. Most of them have met as a group. I would consider them real friends.
4. What is the one food you must eat in a restaurant (not make yourself)? Cheesecake and fried chicken must be store bought. I cannot cook either correctly. Okay, talking about food before bed is not good. I will either be hungry the rest of the night or dream of food.
5. What would happen in your home if you ran out of ketchup? If we did not have ketchup there would be a riot. I wish I was not lazy because I would take a picture of the CASES we have in the garage. I found it on sale for 50 cents a bottle. My daughter eats ketchup on eggs and even on pizza. When we have hotdogs or burgers we not only put it on the food but beside the food to dip in. YUMMY!

Thankful Thursday
Today I sent a text to a friend and said all I want is a BIG piece of cheesecake, a good book, a warm bed and a mountain dew. Funny since I have not had a mountain dew in a year. I tried six months ago and it was nasty.
Later on in the afternoon there was a knock on the door and sure enough it was a friend who had driven to my house to drop these off. I will be honest and say I opened the mountain dew and took a HUGE drink and it was amazing and awesome and ooh so yummy!! I do not know if it is because I am pregnant or what but man I think I could drink a 12 pack tonight. No worries I am not.
I feel so blessed to know that I have friends who love me and do not take my whining lightly.

Scripture Cookies
This week we had a special devotional. I took the following verses and went over with the kids. That afternoon after all of our school work was done we made cookies. They were a huge hit and will be made again soon. I would love suggestions on devotionals that you do with your kids. It is interesting to say the least to have something for older and younger kids.

Miscellany Monday
This was a busy week with lots of appointments. First we had insulation put into the attic. Really hoping that it cuts down on our electric bill. I love how it looked like they were pumping in cotton candy. We also had a appointment to have our EFMP status updated. The waiting room was amazing. Grace had a blast. She decided the magazines were lasagna and cookies. She served everyone and then drove off in he rocking chair. I love her imagination. I have never been worried that one of my children will be jealous when the new baby comes. That is not the case this time. James will not allow anyone to be on my lap unless he is in my lap. Honestly, I love it. I do not know how I will feel when I am trying to nurse a baby. I think I need a bigger chair.

Laundry mishaps
Can I ask you another question? I know I ask alot of questions. Who does the laundry in your house? My ten year old currently is on laundry duty. Sadly it is not always a good thing. Recently she washed a 30 year old stuffed doll. The doll exploded in the washer. It clogged the washer up twice before we fixed it. In the mean time our laundry piled up and piled up. I am finally caught up. Well by the time you read this I could be hidden under piles of dirty laundry again.
People often ask how we keep up with laundry. We do laundry every day. At least one load but most days we do 2 loads. I wash bed linen on as needed basis. We are trying to get better about washing it more often. Not a issue for the youngest 3. My issue is not washing it but folding it and putting it away. It may set on the couch for a couple of days waiting on me to fold it or I fold it but then we never get around to putting it away. We are getting better about it. In my dream home I would have a girls closet and a boys closet. This house is seriously lacking closet space.
