I am going to start doing respite care soon. Respite care is when you have a child with disabilities of some type. Grace got it when she was younger. I have a friend who get’s respite hours. So I am signing up to be her provider. The first step is to get a back ground check. I was so nervous. No idea why. My husband drove me to the court house. It was a horrible day to be outside because it was raining like crazy and the lightning was scary. But I wanted to get it done while he was home so I did not have to take kids in with me.
I arrived at the court house and found the closest entrance and ran as fast as I could. I still walked in wet. I went through security and found the appropriate office. I have no clue why I was so nervous. Really I was feeling silly for being so nervous. The lady handed me a paper to fill out. I handed it back with my out of state driver’s license. Handed her my money order and within about 2 minutes I saw her notarize a piece of paper and hand it to me. I asked if that was my background check and she assured me it was. I said thank you and commented on how fast that was. She almost laughed at me and said “mam, you have no record”. OH YEAH! I guess I do not. Why had I not thought about that? I did get a speeding ticket a few years ago.
I have no idea what I was expecting but it was not to be in and out of the court house in ten minutes and that is only because I had to walk across the building.
So again I ask, have you ever had a back ground check and were you intimidated? What intimidates you? I should have taken a picture of me with my background check.

It's funny how things like this can make us nervous for no reason, but I guess it's just the thought of the whole process. I had one done years ago when I ran an at home day care and yes I was also a nervous wreck even though I had never done anything wrong. How funny.
I have had a background check for my job, and I wasnt so much intimidated by a record of apprehenses, because I have none, but I was worried about what my credit looked like. LOL! I have student loans, and well, sometimes I forget.
p.s I am following you via military monday. follow me back.

My parents do foster care, so I had to have one done when I turned 18 and was still living in their house. :)
Anything to do with the authorities intimidates me. I'm the kind of person that could be driving down the street and be fine and the minute I see a cop car behind me I'm TERRIFIED and thinking I'm going to be pulled over LOL I'm a dork like that.
I've had a background check done when I was applying for my Green Card, but I have no record of any kind so it was quick too LOL
I've only ever had one or two. One when my husband joined the military and then one when I was babysitting. It didn't really bother me because I don't have anything on my record to be worried about. :) Thanks for linking up today!
